We’re wild about Wyoming! The spirit of the west is alive and kickin in Jackson, our base for this adventure. Hiking in the Tetons rewards us with inspirational views and maybe a moose or two. We’ll see bald eagles while floating down the Snake River before white water rafting the gorge. Sea kayaking on Jackson Lake is pure serenity and our horse ride outside Jackson is an iconic western experience. Yellowstone’s wonderful waterfalls and the spectacular golden canyon are a trip highlight. See all the best geysers and boiling pools while biking around Yellowstone. We are poignantly reminded of the past while watching the bison graze. These mountains and thermal areas are surely the jewels of the National Park system. This trip fills fast so reserve your space on our 2017 adventure now!
Fly into Jackson Hole, WY arriving by 3pm. Your Tour Guide will meet you off your flight and drive to our cozy cabin lodging in town. Jackson has 10,000 year-round residents but that swells to 50,000 in summer so it’s a fun place to be! This afternoon we’ll take a ski lift up to the top of Snow King Mountain for great views of the Tetons. A perfect vista of all the places we’ll visit during this exciting week. After our welcome dinner, you may want to explore the great shops in downtown Jackson.
After breakfast, we’ll drive to a local ranch for the Rated #1 two-hour trail ride in the United States! This horse ride in the Bridger Teton National Forest includes wondrous views of the Hoback area, Snake River Canyon Area, and the Teton Range. The horses are well trained so a novice can complete this scenic and fun horse ride with great photos and a feeling of being in the ‘real west’. Return to Jackson for a picnic lunch in the park then drive north to Yellowstone National Park, and check into Old Faithful Inn, right next to Old Faithful so you can enjoy regular performances of the geyser at your leisure. Dinner this evening is at the Lodge.
The scenery and activities were absolutely awesome. I never dreamed I could have spent a week with such a diverse group of women and had such a wonderful time. — Kelly K, GA
You may like to wander geyser hill at sunrise for great photos. Breakfast today will be at Old Faithful Inn. Today we ride bikes out to Sapphire Pool, and hike up to Mystic Falls – such beautiful scenery! We’ll see Morning Glory pool, mudpots, and more and visit Biscuit Basin. We’ll picnic next to the Firehole River. In the afternoon we’ll make our way north to Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in the US. Yellowstone contains half of the world’s hydrothermal features including over 300 geysers, and often we are lucky enough to see one or two erupt. Next, it’s on to Mammoth Hot Springs and the silica terraces are a marvel to behold. We’ll check into Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and dine at the Lodge.
After breakfast we drive south to see the splendor of the Yellowstone Falls in their own magnificent grand canyon. Along the way we’ll scout for bison and elk and include scenic stops including Artist’s Point and Lamar Valley, one of the many places in the area where wolves were reintroduced in 1995. The Yellowstone Falls area is arguably the best scenery in the Park. There’s plenty of time to drink in the scenery before lunch at Canyon Village. This afternoon we’ll drive into the Grand Teton National Park and kayak on the serenity of Jackson Lake with the beautiful Teton mountains as our backdrop – more wonderful views! Check into our Colter Bay cabin lodging next to the lake and dine at the resort restaurant.
Thanks for an awesome week! I loved the chance to try so many different activities – and the scenery was exquisite. The best part of course was the great bunch of girls! — Dottie N, NJ
It’s hiking day so we’ll eat a hearty breakfast! It’s also a busy day on the trail so we’ll get an early start to beat the crowds. Drive to Jenny Lake and catch a boat across to the trailhead. Hike to Inspiration Point and Hidden Falls for wonderful views, and back into Cascade Canyon with the Tetons towering all about us. Hopefully we’ll see moose near the creek or in amongst the spruce trees. This is a hike of approximately 7 miles with undulating terrain and elevation of 6,800 feet. We’ll be back on the boat before the crowds and head back to Jackson where we’ll visit the National Wildlife Museum. This is also a perfect place to lunch after you’ve enjoyed the amazing art. Check into our cabins in town for a two-night stay. Dinner at another of the fine and fun restaurants in Jackson.
It’s an early start today so after breakfast we go directly to the rafting company to get suited up for our scenic whitewater trip on the Snake River. The first section is a scenic float trip for 8 miles where we enjoy the pristine beauty and count the bald eagles and ospreys (our record is 22!). The next section is the white water rafting adventure on the Snake River which is a fun 8 miles through class 2 and 3 rapids. We’ll eat a deli lunch back at the raft base then head back to our cabins. After showers you’ll have free time in Jackson for shopping or relaxing before our farewell dinner.
All I can say is WOW! This trip exceeded all my expectations and helped me rediscover my authentic self. See you in the Rockies! — Sherryann P, PA
